white bloody mary

It is not hello today…

this White Bloody Mary post of course starts with a cheers, santé or prost but also with many thanks @ZWILLING, for these beautiful glasses. It might not be a typical opening, but in this case, more than correct. The Bloody Mary is a classic long drink, basically mixed from vodka or gin with tomato juice. To round things up, it will be flavored with celeriac salt, pepper and tabasco sauce. I must admit, that I am really keen on simple drinks like the Mary is one. All I need for a good drink might be some gin, vodka or rum to go with one or two other ingredients. Just like when it comes to cooking, keep it clean and simple.

What is different?

What obviously is different to the classic drink is the color and with this change, the taste is rather pure and aromatic, than it is with the whole tomato fruit inside. So what you see here, is a drink not only for Mary lovers. It is for those of you, who might want to come up with a drink everybody knows, but might not have it experienced that way. The funny fact of it is that, while drinking it, you would not necessarily build a connection to tomato, because your eyes do not see any red color. It is like eating in the dark or with your eyes closed…what your eyes do not see, might not be there or does it? Find it out yourself with the recipe underneath and have a good time enjoying it. Cheers Ben

White Bloody Mary

For 2 Persons

For the drink:

500 g Ripe Tomatoes
60 g Celery
50 ml Apple Juice
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
6 cl Vodka

To serve:

1/2 Celery Stick
Ice Cubes

1. For the drink, first wash the the tomatoes and celery. Then put them in a blender, such as the Vitamix Pro 750. Add apple and lemon juice and mix everything until smooth. Now cover a sieve with a piece of kitchen towel, put it on a bowl and pour the mix in the sieve. Afterwards leave it in the fridge, to slowly run through the sieve. This might take a few hours, because you just want the juice to get through the towel.

2. Once the mix has gone through the sieve, add the vodka and either stir it with ice cubes until cold. Then strain it in glasses afterwards or pour it in glasses to serve it on the rocks. Add a stick of celery and off you go.

Weiße Bloody Mary

Für 2 Personen

Für den Drink:

500 g Reife Tomaten
60 g Staudensellerie
50 ml Apfelsaft
1 EL Zitronensaft
6 cl Wodka

Zum Servieren:

1/2 Staudensellerie Stange
Eiswürfel
